My FT-817 is the core of a portable setup I'm putting together.
Battery powered, lightweight, and small.
I really can't get over how small it is - 135*38*165 mm - about the size of a solid book or so.

I got lucky on eBay and picked up a basically-new one for a very reasonable price.

I'm currently using this with an `XGGCOMMS USB-Digimode-1 <http://www.xggcomms.com/userimages/USB-Digimode-1.pdf>`_ interface
and my :doc:`../antennas/moonraker-whizz-whip`
and it's a really neat small setup!

Now I just need to sort a laptop or Pi to handle the :doc:`../../modes/ft8`!
